REFLECTIONS Mercy Hospital Gala 2009

Theme: The reflection of light…of one self.

Colors: crystal, silver and white.

Décor: Guests were greeted by dancers in silver unitards and white masks holding mirrors reflecting on the guests. Going up the stairs crystal garlands and mirror columns, so guests could see their reflection, topped by a cluster of white hydrangeas and crystal silver birch branches decorated each landing.  In the mezzanine a stage with a reflective silver mirror backdrop flanked by two elongated figures with faces covered in white masks and dressed in whites and silvers moving in slow motion dominated the scene. There young ladies, posed in a vignette, dressed in Rene Ruiz’s gowns and Tiffany jewels reflected beauty and youth. Also the martini ice bar designed specially for the Gala mixing ice carvings with mirrors and inscribed in it the word “Reflections” was a conversation piece. Another eye catching element in the décor was the fabulous ice table with mirrors and trays for the seafood station. The cocktail tables some low and some high were covered in silver mirror tablecloths and topped with a silver bowl filled with white hydrangeas, to complement clear acrylic chairs with white cushions. The entrance to the Ballroom was flanked by reflective mirrored panels to the ceiling and a corridor of white drapes illuminated in blue led to the main Ballroom door. Inside the Ballroom the dinner tables were covered in different shades of grey “peau de soie” tablecloths with white napkins on a silver square charger and in the center a round mirror with a tall glass vase with a crystal bead garland draping inside and  illuminated from the bottom with LED lights. On top a spray of white dendrobium orchids pin spotted. Silver chivarri chairs completed the effect.  In the center of the room a Royal table for thirteen where the honoree and special guests sat. After the guests were seated and the presentation program completed dancers came out of reflective stretch bags for a production number which combined a neoclassical choreography with avant garde music and a touch of classical.

After dinner the Lounge created outside the Ballroom opened for guests to enjoy after dinner drinks, coffee and chocolate.
